Red Dress Day

May 5

In 2010, Metis artist Jaime Black created the REDress Project in Winnipeg, Manitoba, by hanging hundreds of red dresses in public spaces to symbolize Canada’s Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. It has spurred a nationwide movement and is now permanently installed at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

How you can show support:

  • Hang a red dress from your own window, storefront, or balcony.

Attend community gatherings:

  • Pipe ceremony – 10:00AM at the Native Friendship Centre
  • Community March from City Hall to the Native Friendship Centre – starts at 11:15AM
  • Program + Luncheon, featuring local singers and dancers – starts at 12:00 Noon

    Located in the parking lot of Brass & Thread Thrift Co,, a beloved local charity thrift store. Spend the day enjoying vintage treasures, locally made goods, food vendors, entertainment, and more!
