Red Dress Day
May 5
In 2010, Metis artist Jaime Black created the REDress Project in Winnipeg, Manitoba, by hanging hundreds of red dresses in public spaces to symbolize Canada’s Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. It has spurred a nationwide movement and is now permanently installed at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Every year, Kiwanis Park’s dedicated volunteer members gather to help kick off the magic of the holiday season with a massively impressive Christmas lights display. Bring the whole family to celebrate turning on the lights with music, hot cocoa, and more! If you miss the main event, don’t worry – the lights are on for visitors every evening from 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM until the first week of January.

Weather permitting of course, Downtown’s 11th annual Christmas parade takes place in the evening, so viewers can experience the stunning lights of each float! This family-friendly event typically raises funds for local causes such as the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation, the Lloydminster Rescue Squad, and the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association.

If the winter weather has your little ones feeling cagey, you can bring them to Toddler Fun Run time: every Wednesday from 9:15 – 9:45, there are a variety of exciting games and activities for your little ones to help tire them out before naptime.
