Relax and let your creative side shine! In Lloydminster there are many ways to get your hands working and your creativity flowing. Work your imagination and test the strength of your hands while trying pottery. Locally, Art Soul Life Creative Studio and Lloydminster Potters Guild can help you learn this skill. For those who haven’t been throwing for years, don’t be intimidated, classes are offered for all ages and levels. 

For the little ones in your life, get them creative in the kitchen. Lloydminster & District Co-op’s Mini Chefs at Home program offers seasonal take-home kits complete with everything required to decorate a treat of their own. This is the perfect way to teach fine motor skills and patience, encourage creativity, and ultimately enjoy a delicious treat at the end. On the Border Bakeshop and Hey Sugar! Bakeshop also offer seasonal cookie and cake decorating kits. Contact each business to confirm kit prices, availability, and themes. 

If sewing and crafting is more your speed, may we recommend stopping by Fabricland, Country Quilts and Stitches, or Sew in Tune? These locally owned stores will greet you with friendly, knowledgeable staff who will be happy to help you pick the perfect textile you’re looking for. Some locations offer classes, quilting evenings, and guest speakers teaching new techniques. 

In Lloydminster, you can also enjoy guided painting classes, at Art Soul Life Creative Studio – that showcase your painting skills. Seasonal craft classes are offered through Kathy’s Greenhouse (near Kitscoty, Alta.), Simple Farmer (near Neilburg, Sask.), and others. These experiences guide you through the creation of wreaths, outdoor décor, and more. Locally, be sure to check out the make-your-own jewelery classes at Home Hardware Building Centre. 

If you prefer to showcase your creativity with florals, local entrepreneurs Flowers on the Fly by Audina and Coulee Creations (a branch of The Cheesiry, often host seasonal, themed classes to make masterpieces like wreaths, centrepieces, and holiday planters. During the warm summer months, grab a friend and head to The Cheesiry, located near Kitscoty, Alta. Here, you’ll experience the delights of Coulee Creations, a farm-based floral wonderland featuring unique grasses, colourful florals, and beautiful blossoms.  In mid to late August, Coulee Creations typically opens “U-Pick” evenings for the community. Your creativity will shine as you hand-select the colours, textures, and scents you adore to make your own floral crown, bouquet, or centrepieces.
