OUR FARMING HEROES

Agricultural Roots

Since the Barr Colonists’ arrival in 1903, the seeds of agriculture were planted and haven’t stopped growing. Many farming families are three generations deep, running operations specializing in grain, oil seeds, cattle, and other livestock. In fact, nearly 10% of all cattle raised in Alberta and Saskatchewan are raised within a 160km radius of Lloydminster, and the area is the second-largest producer of alfalfa and third-largest producer of barley, oats and mixed grains.
